We were finish up a meal at In-N-Out Burger when another family noticed we were preparing to leave. I motioned to them that they should go ahead and sit while we gather our things. Once, Javier sat right across from me I thought, “well, I can’t let this one get away.” Right there I had a portrait and all I had to do was ask permission, to photograph and proceed.

I love photographing real people. When I travel I never feel right just taking photographs of the sites. I get a lot out of approaching locals and asking permission to do a portrait.
